Gum Rubber Boots and Sleeves by Industry

Same product, four vocabularies. A concrete plant calls it a boot, a grain elevator calls it a flex connector, a cement terminal calls it a silo band, and a dust system calls it a sock. Find yours and see the sizes and locations that come up most.

The part is the same. The words are not.

This trips people up on the phone more than anything else. A rubber sleeve joining two pieces of equipment gets a different name depending on which plant you are standing in, and asking for the wrong word gets you the wrong quote or no quote at all.

The worst version of this is the word boot. On a concrete batch plant, a boot is the rubber sleeve at a discharge. In grain, the boot is the bottom housing of a bucket elevator, a steel box, not rubber at all. A grain operator who asks a supplier for a boot and a batch plant operator who asks for the same thing are asking for two entirely different parts.

Skip the vocabulary problem. Give us three numbers, the inside diameter, the wall thickness and the length, and it does not matter what anybody calls it. Start with all sizes, read the flex connector page, or go straight to the builder.

If it moves material through a chute, we make the sleeve for it.

Give us the ID, wall and length. Quote back within 24 hours.
