Gum Rubber Boots and Sleeves for Concrete Batch Plants

Concrete is hard on rubber. Aggregate abrades it, cement dust packs into it, and the vibration off a batcher works every seam loose. When a boot tears you are spilling mix on the yard, taking dust complaints, and in the worst case you are not batching at all.

We hot vulcanize replacement batch plant boots to your exact ID, wall and length. Measure the old one, send the numbers, and get a quote back within 24 hours. No catalog to match, no minimum order, and no waiting on a part number that got discontinued three years ago.

Where the sleeves live

Four spots wear out first. All of them are custom parts we make every week.

Truck charging and discharge

The boot between the batcher and the drum. Often tapered. The most common tear on the plant.

Weigh batcher discharge

Seals the batcher to the charging chute. Cement dust duty, so 1/4 inch wall usually holds.

Aggregate bin transitions

Sleeves between bins, gates and conveyors. Sharp rock. Run a thicker wall here.

Cement silo discharge

Seals the silo to the scale hopper and keeps cement dust contained.

The truck discharge boot is the one that fails most. Some plants call it the elephant trunk. It hangs off the bottom of the batcher, takes the full weight of a load on every drop, and gets backed into by drivers. Most are 24 to 29 inches across and many are tapered, running wider at the batcher than where they drop into the drum. We build them at a 1/2 inch wall because a 3/8 inch boot in that spot does not last a season on a plant batching daily.

Further up the plant the duty changes. Aggregate bin transitions and gate boots see sharp rock and want a 3/8 inch wall. Cement silo fill and weigh batcher discharge on the powder side run fine at 1/4 inch, because fine material does not gouge the way rock does. Dust collector connections at the top of the plant are the lightest duty on the whole structure.

If a boot is already torn, do not pull it before you measure it. A phone photo with a tape measure laid across the opening, plus the length you need, is enough for us to quote it. If it is tapered, we need both ends. That is the entire information gathering process.

Example application

29 inch truck discharge boot for a ready-mix batch plant

Hangs off the bottom of the batcher and drops mix into a ready-mix truck. Some plants call it the elephant trunk.

It carries the full weight of a load on every drop, the drum moves under it, and drivers back into it. A 3/8 inch wall runs at this diameter but a 1/2 inch wall is what stops it being a recurring purchase.

What we need to quote it

A phone photo with a tape measure laid across the opening, plus the length, is enough to quote it. If it steps down, we need both diameters.

Questions from concrete batch plants

Can you match a Vince Hagan or MPParts boot?

Yes. Put the catalog part number in the notes field on the RFQ and we will match the dimensions. Those part numbers belong to their manufacturers and we list them for identification only, but the dimensions are just dimensions and we build to them every week.

My discharge boot is tapered. Can you do that?

Yes, and most truck discharge boots are. Switch the builder to Tapered and give us the large end ID, the small end ID, and the length. If the cone is offset rather than centered, note that and send a sketch.

Have your measurements?

ID, wall, length. That is all we need to quote it.
